Have u seen a handsome Mr Bean??
watch this video and u can see one. :D
anyway, i found this video when i have no clue to do my designing and i browsed using YouTube. a nice picture editing :D
Enjoyy~!
This week we were told to choose some random words to relate with our topic which is '' The Enchancement of Music in Creative Multimedia'' and we chose diamond and balloon. We had created a mindmap for both of them and this is the mindmap
.
.
.

Finally, we chose diamond and developed from explaination of  it.

For doing the final product for this assignment, i incharged of doing the drawing for the first part of the video. and i did some research for it.

The first one is the video, wanted to see how people make the steps and footprint because i never do any animation before.

And of course, some vector design of shoes print from the web.

So yea, week 7 onwards, we were told to do the group assignment about Creative Multimedia, we have to do research for Creative Multimedia, Creative and Multimedia, and do a mind map about it, and choose one word in the mindmap to devolop more about Creative Multimedia and we chose '' Music''. And by the way my group are having 5 members included my self (Yong Hooi Khim), Melissa Tang, Melisa Yee, Wong Yivonn, and Jesynthia. And this is our mindmap :

After that, we need to do an associated mindmap for it and also essay for our topic which is '' The Importance of Music in Creative Multimedia''. We discussed it in the class and the essay is being modified after consulting the lecturer. This is the product of us.

This is the mindmap about the importance of music in Creative Multimedia.

This is the essay :

- Week 10 -

Today we have to actually show lecturer about our preparation in the assignment about defining Creative Multimedia. We chose the topic The Importance of Music in Creative Multimedia. This is after we consult the lecturer and we understood about n we did one new mind map about it. Couldnt take the picture because the mind map is not with me. Anyway, we were told that we are on the right track, that's nice :D

A cat sing huh?! haha

At the same time, we were told to create a Scary Object and the random word is a kitten. Is kind of hard to make a kitten to be scary though.

Aww the kitten is so adorable.
This is what i interpreted for the random word~

Next, design!

The first scary object. made up of the claw and the scary eye. This is a night glow object which the eyes will be shinny with green colour which is actually very creepy.
This is the second one, this one made up of the sharp teeth and scary eyes. This one should be put at the entry there to scare people from entering the place.

- Week 8 -

This week, Mr Radzi taught us about Random words, which means something that come to you that can actually make u to have a new idea in solving problems.

And this is what writte in the notes : -
Random Association is an idea generation method which allows students to systematically generate new ideas through a fixed formula. The whole premise of Random Association is to use a Random Word to provoke a reaction from the brain.

In the class, the lecturer told us about why donkey only be affected by the carrot infront of it when it carry people or stock. And Mr Radzi told us because there is the blinker beside the eyes that prevent it from seeing the food beside or on the ground. wow, the creator is smart.
We were told, everyone have their own motivation, but we cannot always have the same one, so we have to change the ''carrot'' and replace it with others that can help us more. Being creative have to eliminate the carrot.

Besides, Mr Radzi asked us one question, which is, if the room with all naked people, with only one rubbish bin inside as the random words, how are they suppose to help them self to get back home and get covered by clothes? We have to actually use the random word but we cannot combine it with the method to be used. And the answer is, make noise with the rubbish bin to attract the others attention or maybe, guard's so that they will bring them clothes and this can make them get out safely. And guess what, I got the correct answer :) Kinda happy with it.

How to make a person to stop smoking in 6 months time?

Find the key words.
- dirty
- metals
- sign
- colors

1) Color : Use colors to indicate danger.
- Paint different colors to the cigarette to indicate the level of danger that the smoker is getting into. Starting off with, Green; start  smoking and start to feel stupid,, Yellow; entering the dangerous zone and finally Red; you are now about to commit suicide!
2) Metal : Make it tough to smoke
- Make the cigarette to be as hard as a metal make the people don't feel comfortable when they smoke and once they get fed up with it, they will stop smoking.
3) Dirty : Create a “Yucky” effect to the cigarette
 - People will feel stinky when they want to smoke and they will get sick of it soon they will stop smoking.
4) Sign : Create a weird and scary sign
- Create a scary and weird sign on the cigarette and when they smoke, they saw that, they will feel freaky.

Pay and Sit bench.

I watched this video last time in Facebook and i wasted so much time and i found this!!! This is a video showing a private bench which need people to pay if they want to sit on it and when the time limit reach, the nails will come out again. This is a creative way in creating a bench that doesnt allow people simply sit on it.

Other than that, we were told to write 5 more phrases for different 5 pictures.

Pain is like the ice cream, the more pain you get, the colder your heart. Once it reached it's limit, it will freeze, and you will never care of it again.

Love, is like a kitten caring and loving the duckling, pure hearted, with no harm.

Love is like addiction to coffee, there more you get, the harder for you to let it go.

Fire lit will finally reach it's end,
Life will always come to the end.

Man is like a gold fish with shark fin,
looks strong,
but soft inside.
We were told to choose 3 2-digit number our self, and we were given the list below and see what we have got for our number.
The number i chose is 59, 68 and 15 and i got Fire rain, Duck wood and Flower root.

Fire rain - The fire turned into rain and destroyed the village.

Flower root - The flower grew its root on it's petal.

Duck wood - My uncle invented a duck using the dried woods.

And after that, we were told to draw a new things which can make us to say out the word straight after seeing the drawing. This is what i did.

Fire Rain - The guy name Rain is on fire because he is showing his power.

Duck wood - The wood duck when people want to chop them off.

Flower root - The flower shape root.

- Week 6 -

Juxtaposition 2 by Mr Radzi.
This week, again about juxtaposition but being taught by Mr Radzi. Again, Juxtaposition is a placing or being placed in nearness or contiguity, or side by side; as a juxtaposition of words.

We were introduced to a new word, Anology :-

- a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based: the analogy between the heart and a pump. source : http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/analogy

-Analogies use something that has no apparent connection to the object to explain something about the object. The main use of analogies in daily conversation is to use something familiar to explain something complex (from the notes )

Metaphors :
Is a figure of speech in which 2 different things  are linked by some similarity.
Comparison that are obvious are not consider metaphors.
Therefore, metaphors occur, when 2 different ideas are being connected in imaginative ways and agreed to be dissimilar at first.

Similes :
Using as / like

- Week 5 -

Juxtaposition by Mr Mustafa.
As what written on the notes, Juxtaposition
- can be defined as placing two variable, side by side and their contrast or similarity are shown through comparison.
- Many creative processes rely on juxtaposition.
- By juxtaposing two objects or words next to each other, human brain will automatically associate or transfer meaning.
- Usually ‘turning’ something familiar to something less familiar or vice-versa.

This is what i got from internet :
Simply stated, juxtaposition means placing things side-by-side. In art this usually is done with the intention of bringing out a specific quality or creating an effect, particularly when two contrasting or opposing elements are used. The viewer's attention is drawn to the similarities or differences between the elements.
source : http://drawsketch.about.com/od/drawingglossary/g/juxtaposition.htm

Here goes some example of Juxtaposition~~

The angle of picture taken made the mic actually to be the person eyeball.

This looks like the Mickey mouse wanted to hit the soldier.

Mortar and Pestle

During the class, Mr Radzi asked us to do some exercise by applying our creativity on Mortar and Pestle which we are actually need to think what is the other function of Mortal and Pestle beside to use it to mix the food ingredients. It was fun doing that because we can actually apply any ideas on it :) And this is what i have thought for the function of them.

Oh yea before that, we were told to choose 3 words for the description of mortar and pestle and this is what i chose,
- suffer
- sound
- $$$

Suffer - People use the mortar and pestle to torture people.

Sound - The baby is being with the mortar and pestle all the time and he learned how to produce beautiful sound with it and finally he became a very famous musician.

$$$ - The robber can use the mortar and pestle to protect his head and his underpart and use the pestle to scare away the victim to get the $$$.

- Week 4 -

This week is about Convergent and Divergent thinking, Logical Mindmap, Stereoptypes.

First of all is about convergent and divergent thinking. We were being taught about that and from what I understand :-

Convergent thinking is narrowing the thinking field and refine, catagorize and focus on one point.

This is what i got from lecturer notes : Convergent thinking is a term coined by Joy Paul Guilford as the opposite of divergent thinking. It generally means the ability to give the correct answer to standard questions that do not require significant creativity, for instance in most tasks in school and on standardized multiple-choice tests for intelligence.

Divergent thinking is about widening the field of thinking and expand the points and ideas for example brainstorming to get more and better idea.

This is what i got from lecturer notes : Divergent thinking is a thought process or method used to generate creative ideas by exploring many possible solutions. It is often used in conjunction with convergent thinking, which follows a particular set of logical steps to arrive at one "correct" solution. Divergent thinking typically occurs in a spontaneous, free-flowing manner, such that many ideas are generated in a random, unorganized fashion. Many possible solutions are explored in a short amount of time, and unexpected connections are drawn. Following divergent thinking, ideas and information are organized and structured using convergent thinking.
This is also about the convergent and divergent thinking.

About logical mindmap,
- is a great tool for idea generation and brainstorming.
- It enhance both sides of the human brain and widely used in taking notes, research or generating new ideas.

Stereotypes : A stereotype is a commonly held public belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. The concepts of "stereotype" and "prejudice" are often confused with many other different meanings. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups based on some prior assumptions.

- Week 3 -

This week Mr. Mustafa taught us about Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention. First he gave us some lecture and define what is Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention. I did some research by google, and this is what i found for :-

Novelty :
Novelty (derived from Latin word novus for "new") is the quality of being new. Although it may be said to have an objective dimension (e.g. a new style of art coming into being, such as abstract art or impressionism) it essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals.
( And from what i understand is something new that can attract people attention.)

Creativity :
- I define creativity as the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing.by By Linda Naiman
- "Creativity is the process of bringing something new into being...creativity requires passion and commitment. Out of the creative act is born symbols and myths. It brings to our awareness what was previously hidden and points to new life. The experience is one of heightened consciousness-ecstasy." - Rollo May, The Courage to Create
(From what i understand is, creativity is the process of bringing some innovative ideas to reality.)

Innovation :
Innovation is a change in the thought process for doing something, or the useful application of new inventions or discoveries. It may refer to an incremental emergent or radical and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations. source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innovation
(From what I understand is, creation of something new from studies and etc.)

Invention :
An invention is a new composition, device, or process. An invention may be derived from a pre-existing model or idea, or it could be independently conceived in which case it may be a radical breakthrough.
(From what i understand is, creation of some new ideas in the mind. )

This is some idea that are very creative and interesting.

- Week 2 -

This week, Mr Yap is the one to give us lecture. When starting the class, he took a long stick and keep spinning it like making Kung Fu show. That was actually quite interesting as he asked us what is the use of the long stick beside to defence ourself. Beside that, this is what i learned in the class : -

Defining Creativity

Creativity is the ability to generate innovative ideas and manifest them from thought into reality. The process involves original thinking and then producing.
The process of creation was historically reserved for deities creating "from nothing" in Creationism and other creation myths. Over time, the term creativity came to include human innovation, especially in art and science and led to the emergence of the creative class. source : wikipedia

I like this : -

Demystifying the Myth of Creativity:
(Some common counter productive notions)
1. Only special talented people are creative.
2. Being creative is hard.
3. Problems are in our life to make it more difficult.
4. I am not creative.
5. Innovation is the domain of geniuses.
6. I have to have brand new ideas in order for me to be considered creative.
7. Brainstorming is hard work.
8. Only artists need to be creative.
9. Using structured creative techniques will hinder my ability to be creative.
(p/s : This is all from lecturer notes)
This showing that, being creative is not hard, it happen everywhere on every people =)

Creativity can be applied on anywhere even in the light bulb =D

- Week 1 -

In week 1 , we were taught about the Introduction to Thinking and Creativity. Mr. Radzi was the one taught us about this topic. He told us about the assignments, the course works marks and so one, and he started the class by explaining to us about Creative Studies. He interacted with us nicely and he asked us one question, which I never think about it before which is, Where the eyes should have located if we got the choice to relocate it? I thought of it so long and still i couldnt give any proper answer which expected by Mr Radzi... Some of the students said, on the back of the head but he said its still not convenient if wanna peak someone in the toilet haha!!!! And this is reasonable, of course, not for me as I don peak others in the toilet. Finally, Mr Radzi told us his answer, he said on the tip of the finger because, the finger can be hidden somewhere but we can peak freely... Wow... the answer is great. I should have think about this answer too. Finally, we were given one last question again which is, What is the same characteristic of elephant and lamp post? Haha.. And the answer expected is something like, elephant and lamp post cant cycle, cant fly and so on. This answer beats me. I have to think way more creative next time. =D I like the class anyway =)

Lamp post and elephant have what similiarities?  How about your answer ? =)

Jun 14, 2010

I saw something through  Facebook which is :

tadaa!
So, one question, what do you noticed first when u see this picture?
The fish??
The human??
or you saw nothing?? haha..

This is a very creative way in designing and bringing comedy to us. But first, they have to observe properly and experiment whether this is suitable to be like that or not. Thanks for the creativity sharing anyway. =]

HI!

Hi! First of all, i would like to introduce my self. My name is Yong Hooi Khim, currently studying in Foundation of Creative Multimedia. I am from Penang and now staying at Kajang. My interest is photography, drawing and editing stuff, thats the reason why I am here. And ya, i was actually studying in FOE which is Faculty of Engineering but i cant cope with it and my interest is not there, and finally i had decided to change to FCM at my FOE beta second sem and i know that it's quite late, but of course, it's better than nothing, right ? :)

So yea, this is my blog for Creative Studies MLC0113. Welcome to visit my blog and enjoy! :)

A cat smiled =)
